1+1 is an artist talk in flexibel format – “a guest brings another guest” – invented by the Istanbul artist and thinker Sencer Vardarman.  The idea is to invite a guest protagoinst – a colleague with a challenging, special project  – who then brings along another guest – curator, artist, friend, thinker, writer, etc. – to engage in a public conversation on artistic and personal matters.

The themes are free, the talks are related to the protagonists’ own projects. The conversation meanders, often interspersed with visual documentation of the protagonists projects.

The protagonists are also political activists. Their art projects speaks to recent uprisings in art and politics in Europe and the Middle East.
