2010 House of Taswir / Shulamit Çoruh co-initiated a symposion directed by Lilli Gast at the then newly founded International Psychoanalytic University by the title “Die Psychoanalyse in talmudischen Textlandschaften: Ein Symposion über jüdische Signaturen psychoanalytischen Denkens”.
House of Taswir has been working on epistemic transfers of talmudic ways of thinking into poetic, artistic, performative, psychoanalytic settings ever since.
Under the pre-text of a small selection of Lacanian texts suggested by Susanne Hübner on veiling/re-vealing, keeping the “bride’s veil” in mind, we ask how talmudic tropes of desire, jouissance (“sha’ashua”) and acts of separation enter the psychoanalytic setting under cover.
The “talmudic way of thinking” and the idiosyncratic ways in which it re-enters the psychoanaylitc space is subject to this seminar as well as to our newly founded TISCH UNIVERSITY, open to artists, scholars, psychoanalysts, theorists interested in experimenting with traditional settings of psychoanalysis, theory, and art alike.

For those interested in the psychoanalytic context of the term “talmudic way of thinking” and some creative ways to retrieve it, see Bruckstein, “Talmudic War Machine. A Shadow’s Dream” (2018), published in a first draft on our page.

Thank you, Susanne Hübner, for an exquisite presentation on the object (of desire) in the universe of Lacanian discourse. Thanks Ioanna Kostopoulou, for your gracious invitation.
Dear members of TISCH – please feel free to join :- ))
The discussion will be in German.
