 Silvina Der-Merguerditchian

 Born 1967 in Buenos Aires, Argentina,  lives and works in Berlin

The artist is the granddaughter of Armenian immigrants to Argentina and was born in Buenos Aires in 1967. She grew up in Argentina and since 1988 lives in Berlin.

Her artistic work deal with issues related to the burden of national identity, memory, the role of minorities in the society and the potential of a space “in between”.

Her work has a very heterogeneous language (installation, video, sound installation, audiowalk, rugs, bi-dimensional image, etc.)

The work “Treasures” (2015) was part of the Armenian Pavillon in the 56th International Venice Biennial 2015 with which it has won the Golden Lion. It has been exhibited widely in international museums since.
