Nasan Tur (2022). Wood carving in fractured spruce, acrylic paint. 100 x 5 x 2,5 cm

MKM Gallery
presents two works by Nasan Tur, Living is Resistance (2014) and I Am Not Broken (2022). The works are placed in dialogue with The Istanbul Pavilion of the Gaza Biennial Initiative, which in 2025 unfolded across sixteen international “pavilions,” and for which House of Taswir curated The Istanbul Pavilion within the framework of the 17th Istanbul Biennial.

How do we read Nasan Tur’s works — Living is Resistance and I Am Not Broken — in the context of political violence? How can we create open edges across hermetic political boundaries within the field of contemporary art?

Please come early. Seating is limited. We are looking forward to having you.

Nasan Tur (*1974 in Offenbach) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work unfolds between public space and institutional contexts, addressing political and social conditions of the present. Working across performance, installation, video, and sculpture, Tur stages actions that navigate risk, endurance, and vulnerability, balancing critique with irony and empathy. His practice consistently addresses questions of resistance, freedom of expression, and the ethical ambiguities of activism.

Tur has participated in major international exhibitions including documenta 14, the 10th Istanbul Biennial, the 6th Taipei Biennial, and Manifesta 16, and has exhibited at institutions such as Palais de Tokyo and Centre Pompidou, as well as Hamburger Bahnhof, Städel Museum, and MAXXI in Rome. He was awarded the Will Grohmann Prize by the Academy of Arts Berlin in 2012 and was a fellow at Villa Massimo in 2014. Tur is currently Professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (HBK).

Solo & Friends exhibitions are dedicated to one single position, accompanied by the entire current ensemble of MKM arists.

Nasan Tur’s  I am Not Broken is accompanied by works of Elisabeth Masé, Walid Raad, Ali Kaaf, Maryam Motallebzadeh, Yari Ostovany, Taysir Batniji, Ana Sontag, Katharina Karrenberg, Anita Kapraljevic, Chaza Charafeddine, Benyamin Reich, Nouri Almashhour, Željka Mićanović Miljković, Ekin Su Koç, Emin Turan, Patricia Lambertus, Furkan Akhan, Razan Nassreddine, Alexander Polzin, Chris Newman, Raziye Kubat, Maliheh Afnan, Joseph Sassoon Semah, Onur Hastürk, a.o.
