The book is published by Galerie Thomas Schulte in collaboration with Sfeir-Semler Gallery Hamburg/Beirut on the occasion of Walid Raad. Like a rubber rung on a ladder at Galerie Thomas Schulte, May 31 – June 20, 2026. Edited by Annika Karpowski.

Taking inspiration from Walid Raad’s “love notes” and Aby Warburg’s reflections on “Schlitterlogik”, Almut Sh. Bruckstein reads selected passages from the book, followed by a conversation with art historian and curator Angela Harutyunyan.

The conversation may ask: How does the artistic imagination create pathways of rescue or slippage in a world of never-ending wars?

Angela Harutyunyan is an art historian, curator, and professor of contemporary art theory. Almut Sh. Bruckstein is a writer, epistemic architect, and founder of House of Taswir.

The conversation will be introduced by Annika Karpowski, gallery director at Galerie Thomas Schulte. With many thanks.
