#2  ELISABETH MASÉ:  The Bride
Solo & Friends

Standing in the tradition of the (Jewish) salonières and the autonomous apartment exhibitions of the 1920s, 80s, and 00s in Berlin (Moscow, Beirut, Istanbul) MKM Gallery presents a new exhibition concept, called SOLO & FRIENDS.

Solo & Friends exhibits are dedicated to one work of a single artist, accompanied by the ensemble of MKM artists. A (female) couch of scholars with members of House of Taswir is part of the opening’s program. The exhibits are open to the general public for three hours on the day of the opening. All other guests are welcomed by Shulamit Bruckstein personally upon appointment.

MKM Galerie shows The Bride (2020), one of Elisabeth Masé’s watercolor series on black paper, capricious “brides” in various, sometimes disturbing states and situations. The bride of our exhibition is funny, exuberantly creative, and disturbingly aggressive. Causing emotional discomfort, The Bride opens a discourse on female (sexual) desire, unleashed artistic creativity, and a stunning embrace of very personal psychic disorders.

Elisabeth Masé is an interdisciplinary artist and novelist, painter, and draftswoman. She writes fiction, makes objects, creates communities, and produces choreographies and artistic films.
